In silence I stayed still, watching wrongs reign,
Everybody wander blind, in silent disdain.
Unseeing of the wrongs amassed,
Their silence echoes, long it lasts
Veiled eyes shun truths that lie so bare,
Lost in the maze, without a care.
Deaf to the pleas that cry for change,
In comfort’s warmth, they find their range.
But truth, relentless, breaks the night,
Piercing through darkness with piercing light.
It beckons them forth, to face the fray,
To shed the blindness, and find their way.
I hope one day they awaken, and see,
The world’s injustices, longing to be free.
For in speaking out, in taking a stand,
They will shape a future, noble and grand.
