Pause!
Before you mistake my silence for foolishness,
Know it is not cowardice that holds my tongue.
I will step forward, choosing kind words,
No path to my anger, no lead will be flung.
Stop!
Before you deem me a mere tool,
Understand my unwavering dedication’s the rule.
Through rain and snow, I stand firm,
Educated to be diligent, my abilities I will fuel.
Halt!
Before you consider me a stool,
Know my gentleness may not always be subtle.
Endure your strikes, I will remain quiet and cool,
But once your cup’s full, my words won’t be subtle.
That day, my leniency might dwindle.
Stand still!
Before you toss me into a pool,
Rest assured, I will emerge composed, not a fool.
I will never succumb to the cold,
Stay afloat, my spirit bold,
My smile won’t fade, my radiance won’t recede,
Through trials, I will succeed.
Cease fire!
Before you kick me with your boot,
Realize this is a school, where I toil, resolute.
Though this train moves slow, enduring pain’s great,
I will emerge with gains, making you contemplate.
You will marvel at the woman I have become,
Drained but unbroken, standing tall, not undone.
