EMOTIONALLY SINGLE

Confused I stand alone,
A heart confined, emotions sown.
A marriage bond, once strong and true,
Yet in my soul, a rift I knew.

Through days of storms and nights of woe,
My heartache’s tide begins to grow.
In quiet moments, I yearned for grace,
A partner’s solace in life’s embrace.

When skies turned gray and hope grew thin,
I sought a haven deep within.
But in my cries, I found no ear,
No empathy to calm my fear.

To lean upon a shoulder dear,
In times of struggle, drawing near,
But all I heard was “be a man,”
A hollow phrase, no helping hand.

Inside, I am withering, a silent plea,
A tempest roars, she cannot see.
Unseen, I fade, my spirit’s dim,
Lost in the void, emotions grim.

Oh, how I wished for just one glance,
A glimpse into my soul’s expanse.
Yet still, I bear this weight alone,
Emotionally single, I have grown.

Naked I am, a heart laid bare,
Aching for someone to truly care.
In whispered echoes of my plight,
I am drowning in this endless night.© Ifedolapo Ogunniyi

CEASE TO EXIST

Enveloped in sorrow’s grip, I recall,
My story of love, a life once whole.
My dear wife, now lost to time’s cruel twist,
Each verse and stanza,, I weave, “Cease to Exist.”

Her smile, a beacon in the darkest night,
Her laughter, a melody, pure and bright.
A mother’s embrace, tender and warm,
In her love, we found shelter from life’s storm.

A lover, a partner, oh, so divine,
Her touch, electric, like sweetest wine.
In passion’s dance, our hearts took flight,
Her presence, a replica of pure delight.

But fate’s cruel hand, relentless and cold,
Wrapped her in pain, stories untold.
I watched her fight, her spirit ablaze,
Yet, the torment she bore, my words cannot phrase.

The world lost its hue, its meaning, its grace,
When death’s icy fingers stole her embrace.
In solitude’s grip, life’s colors turned gray,
A widower’s lament, in the fading day.

Without her, life’s canvas is empty and bare,
A rhythm silenced, a love beyond compare.
In the void she left, I am adrift, alone,
A heart shattered, a soul turned to stone.

Cease to exist, without her love I remain,
A vessel of memories, a heartache’s refrain.
In emptiness embrace, her essence persists,
A love everlasting, “Cease to Exist.”

THE LABYRINTH

In the labyrinth of life, we stand,
Lost in moments, like grains of sand.
When shall the tides of fate align?
When shall the stars with brilliance shine?

Delay, the echo of whispered dreams,
In shadows cast, where hope gleams.
Time’s secret path, elusive and unclear,
Divine hands guide, as we persevere.

Through trials and tests, we learn to wait,
For destiny’s hour, to alter our fate.
In the curtains woven by hands unseen,
Breakthrough arrives, like a sunbeam’s sheen.

O Divine Being, keeper of time,
Lead us to the peak, the mountain to climb.
Though life’s course is complex, intricate, and vast,
We trust in the journey, from present to past.

When clocks align and purpose unfolds,
A symphony of moments, a story told.
The heart’s yearning, the soul’s gentle plea,
A dance with time, till our breakthrough is free.© Ifedolapo Ogunniyi

THE DANCE WITH DEVIL’S TUNE

In a moment of time, I paid a toll,
Passed through gates of glistening gold.
In a trance, I went, my heart a beat,
To dance with shadows, a daring feat.

With a stolen look, in that fleeting glance,
A dance began, a risky advance.
From afar, a feeling of allure,
A dance with darkness, a dance so impure.

Fortunes flowed like a river’s stream,
A limousine’s light, a dazzling gleam.
Radiance bathed a mansion grand,
From its entrance to rooms so grand.

Obedience demanded, or face his ire,
A master of pride, a burning fire.
Between defiance and the devil’s sway,
I stood, uncertain, in disarray.

Emotions trumped reason, brilliance dimmed,
Illumination in the room, my heart brimmed.
Yet a dark reluctance dwelled inside,
For vain indulgence, I could not hide.

Forbidden dalliance, a reckless start,
An extravagant journey played its part.
Unaware that my relevance in the scheme,
Slowly turned to suffering, a painful theme.

Under watchful eyes, I felt the gaze,
Evil alliances, a twisted maze.
Demons’ scent lingered in the air,
I sought guidance, a guiding prayer.

Repentance found me, a saving grace,
Acceptance gifted, in a divine embrace.
Assured protection, angels’ stance,
A defense ‘gainst future devil’s dance.

Once I danced with the devil’s tune,
Chased after darkness, like a reckless loon.
Civility escaped, my life unwound,
But mercy intervened, a chance I found.

HIDDEN EMOTIONS IN MY POETRY

FINDING FATHER’S FACE

Dark shadows cast by night’s embrace, heart held tangled fears,
A tale of fleeting dreams and unspoken unshed tears.
A lady lost in mysteries, unsure of the path to take,
With unborn life within me, and a heart that aches and breaks.

I met Jack on a summer’s eve, beneath the moonlit sky,
His charm like stars that gleam above, so effortlessly sly.
We danced ‘neath twinkling lights, his touch was sweet and wild,
Yet in the haze of passion’s trance, the truth was far from mild.

Then came Shola with a grace, a smile like sunrise glow,
His gentle soul embraced me, his kindness in full flow.
We walked through fields of laughter, hand in hand, so free,
But time revealed our destinies were not meant to be.

And Chimma, oh dear Chimma, a tempest in disguise,
He swept me off my feet, with fire in his eyes.
Yet storm clouds gathered swiftly, his heart torn and estranged,
Leaving me adrift, unsure, and utterly deranged.

Now I stand with heavy heart, in search of truth’s embrace,
To know the father of my child, and destiny to face.
The journey fraught with anguish, my heart still seeks to heal,
For in this web of mystery, the answers I appeal.

Amidst the doubts and shadows, my strength I must regain,
To find the father’s face, and peace I long to gain.
In solitude and reflection, my heart and soul align,
In hope to find the one whose love will intertwine with mine.
