EXHAUSTED

I am exhausted
From the never-ending societal rules
The do’s and don’ts that confine me

I am tired
Of struggling to make ends meet
Working tirelessly for meager pay

I am drained
By constant rejection and financial struggles
Feeling alone with no one to turn to for help

I am weary
Of living in the shadows
Unable to keep up with societal expectations

I am fatigued
By skipping meals due to lack of means
Struggling to meet basic needs

I am saddened
By my inability to support parents
Missing out on family events due to financial constraints

I am weary
Of my body’s constant struggles
Masking my pain with a smile

I am worn out
Crying myself to sleep most nights
Feeling trapped in darkness with no relief in sight

I am exhausted
From this life that weighs me down
Feeling older than my years, stuck in stagnation

I am drained
Yearning for rest and solace
Searching for a way out of this burden

I am longing for relief
Yearning for a break from this endless struggle
Desperately seeking rest and peace.

BEHIND MUD WALLS

In Adeyipo Village, I dwell,
A young village girl, this tale I will tell.
Kufi 1, Olorunda Aba, Igbo Elerin, they surround,
Where hidden lives and dreams are found.

With love’s sweet whispers in the air,
I dream of a future, love to share.
But fears grip my heart, like the night’s embrace,
Will love be kind, or a painful chase?

In Olorunda, hope blooms like flowers,
I yearn for brighter days and golden hours.
With each dawn, my dreams take flight,
Guided by faith, through day and night.

Behind mud walls, my hear has desire,
To rise above, like a soaring spire.
Though trials may come, I won’t back down,
I willl rise like the sun in Olorunda town.

In Igbo Elerin, secrets are kept,
My dreams, my fears, silently wept.
Yet, through it all, hope will survive,
A beacon of light, forever alive.

This young village girl, in love and strife,
Longs to break free, reach a new life.
Behind mud walls, a spirit stands tall,
In Adeyipo Village, I will conquer all.

LITTLE BITS OF LIFE

In this world of wonders, we find delight,
A little bit of this and that, so bright,
Through life’s kaleidoscope, colors so grand,
A symphony of moments, hand in hand.

A little bit of laughter, joy’s embrace,
A heartfelt smile, a tender, warm space,
The sun and stars, their dance up high,
A little bit of magic, caught in the sky.

A little bit of love, a gentle kiss,
Two souls entwined, a lifelong bliss,
In shared dreams, hopes take flight,
A little bit of passion, burning bright.

A little bit of sorrow, tears that fall,
Yet strength arises, standing tall,
Through trials and triumphs, we adapt,
A little bit of resilience, firmly wrapped.

In this maze of life, we weave,
A little bit of this, a little bit to believe,
In every verse and stanza, we chat,
A little bit of this and that, we are never flat.

THE YEARNING GAZE

Gazing intensely at you,
My eyes reflect Amusan’s swift run,
Morning greetings falter as emotions stir,
Words remain trapped, left unspoken.

I sought to decipher you like a book,
Your beauty held me captive, a hooked heart,
Hiding my feelings, a clandestine crook,
My actions spoke volumes, though in silence,
Yet, you paid no attention to the unspoken.

Your silence deeply affects me,
As if I am imprisoned and bound,
You claim indifference,
Gifts and gestures aimed to win your favor,
But they failed to sway your heart.

Now my heart simmers, as if cooked on fire,
Nerves in turmoil, every minute a struggle,
Watching my world crumble before my eyes,
In this silent plea, I hope you understand,
I am attempting to communicate volumes…

I just hope you realize.

HOLD BACK!

I know you are feeling tense,
Life’s circumstances have you fenced,
Your voice seems to have lost its audience,
And inconvenience becomes your constant presence.

I know you have lost a sense of independence,
Daily, interference challenges your resilience,
The deity of omniscience, once so vibrant,
Now dwells in profound silence.

I know you battle against pestilence,
Where internal gas brings flatulence,
Doctors warn of its recurrence,
Threatening your very existence.

I know you yearn for affluence,
Yet even pence is in absence,
Your patience has outrun its sense,
Please resist any thoughts of violence.

I know your desires’ persistence,
But do not let them lead you to imprudence,
Guard your emotional intelligence,
For it might fade away under insistence.

I know the pressures that immense,
Think through each thought’s consequence,
In sequence, they may come, hence,
Boost your confidence and say yes to life.

Hold back on any impulsive threat…
